Happy Mothers Day

This is a little early, but happy Mothers Day, everybody! If you haven't gotten anything for your mom yet, hurry up and do it today because time's a-wastin'! But then again, you shouldn't just use one day to show your mom you love her. But this day is special, so make it count!

I'm very proud of this picture for two reasons. 1) It's my first drawing of Sarah Hawkins ever to come out right, and 2) except for the text, I did the whole thing by hand! I finally had time to use my Prismacolor pencils again and it came out a lot better then I thought. Looking back on it, though, I noticed a couple of mistakes. Sarah's hair is too long and Jim is too short, but we can just say that they're younger here then they were in the movie.

To me, Sarah Hawkins exemplifies the qualities of most modern mothers; she's single and she's working. Now, motherhood alone is a tough job, but being single and working? That's even tougher. A lot of mothers are in the same boat, unfortunately, and so they deserve just as much if not even more credit and appreciation then mother's who aren't.

Motherhood in general these days seems to be undervalued. Feminists see it as submissive and limiting, but I see it as the most important job any woman could ever have. Mothers are the ones who bring new life into the world, the ones that have the most influence on the minds of their children. Heck, if everybody did what their mother said, I'm sure the world would be a much better place.

Okay, now I'm rambling, but I'm looking forward to being a mom someday. Just as soon as I'm married, of course. Now, first I'm gonna need a boyfriend . . .
